Rising Producer Matt Layson set to release explosive debut single,
"She's so high (by my side) 

Matt Layson is a producer and guitarist from Bromley in South East London, currently living in Southampton and is very excited to announce his Debut single, 'She's So High (By My Side)', Featuring Sam Baslington, will be released on the 4th February 2022.

Written, Produced, Mixed and Mastered by Matt during 2021, this cosmic, ethereal song has a very strong Psychedelic, Madchester, Britpop style.

 

Matt has said his Stylistic influences for the song were The Stone Roses, Charlatans, Kula Shaker, The Beatles, The Smiths and Joy Division, the future of Psychedelia is in the safe hands of Matt.

Matt began learning guitar at the age of 7, becoming immersed in music at secondary school, he became fascinated in music production and how his favourite songs were recorded, especially the studio innovations of the 1960s, having studied Music Tech A-Level, he progressed to Popular Music production at Solent.

Currently playing Guitar for Southampton based Indie Rock/Alternative band, Inbound

 

Layson has stated his main production influence is George Martin and engineers of the 60s as their pioneering and innovations were incredibly influential during the era and across popular music history.

 

Matt said for his single She’s So High (By My Side), "I took inspiration from the late 80s Madchester, neo-Psychedelia and Baggy scene and the 90s Britpop scene. Artists such as The Stone Roses, The Charlatans and Kula Shaker were a big influence on this song."

Having his influences of 60s and 90s psychedelic production, Layson likes experimental and unique production techniques which he incorporates into his music.

 

Talking about this song Matt has revealed;

"I wanted to create a guitar driven track with danceable drums and bassline, psychedelic production techniques and the overall sound to evoke the psychedelic feel with my own unique style that is truly like nothing produced today."

 

"In term of lyrics this song is ambiguous and magical but it’s about the euphoric feeling that someone you admire brings to you, and I hope these lyrics resonate to every listener who can relate to an experience like this."

His writing style "lets the music flow to me naturally" and his production and recording process builds up the layers of instruments. Loving a ‘Wall of sound’ production with layers of "lush and heavenly" instruments and sounds.

 

For She's So High (By My Side), the psychedelic elements used creates an immersive experience for the listener, where, as he stated, "They can almost touch and feel the music", combined with the unconventional structure and ambiguous lyrics, this creates a truly magical experience.

She's So High (By My Side) was recorded at Solent Southampton University's studios and this transcendental cosmic song is not to be missed.
