ABOUT MATT
Matt Layson is a producer, engineer and guitarist from Bromley in South east London. He is currently studying BA Popular music production at Solent Southampton University.
A widely experienced guitarist, playing for 11 years in bands and orchestras with music ranging from rock to blues, jazz to funk, pop to soul as well as playing in large concert orchestras. He has achieved grade 7 in guitar. Having played in bands at sold out gigs at venues such as The O2 Islington, Churchill Theatre Bromley and smaller festivals in the borough.
Matt became very interested in the audio engineering and producing side of music after helping with live sound at school concerts. Eventually progressing from setting up live sound equipment to helping mix using a digital console, Matt gained more knowledge in sound. After finishing GCSE music with an A, Matt studied Music Tech A level at his sixth form. Completely loving the course he engrossed himself in studio production.
Matt has a big interest in the history of popular music, the social context behind it and the production and technologies used and tries to listen to as many styles of music as possible.
Matt produces music ranging from Pop, Rock, House, Jazz, Soul and anything in between.
